THORNFIELD MAINE COONS

In 2020, our lives were forever changed. My husband, Garry, was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, an aggressive cancer of the blood. The harsh effects of chemotherapy led to a rare and severe peripheral neuropathy that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Though it was an unimaginable challenge, this journey forced me to reevaluate our lives and embrace what truly matters: doing what you love and cherishing the people—and creatures—you love.

 

Since 1997, Garry and I have called our farm in Hillsborough, NC, home. It has been a sanctuary for us and the many animals we care for. Growing up, I was captivated by Ellie Mae Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies—her life surrounded by animals inspired my childhood dream. Today, I live that dream, surrounded by a menagerie of beloved creatures. Yet, despite the beauty of our farm, something was missing.

 

While all of our outside farm creatures brought joy, I longed for the affectionate, majestic presence of cats—particularly Maine Coons. Though I’d always had cats, I had never owned a Maine Coon, and the idea of bringing these stunning, regal felines into our lives sparked a new passion.

 

At Thornfield Maine Coons, I dedicated myself to crafting an exceptional breeding program. True to my values, I carefully researched and selected breeding cats with specific traits, importing six exquisite Maine Coons from four highly respected European breeders. My preferences lean toward luxurious colors like grays, smokes, bi-colors, classic black-and-tans, and whites, complemented by striking patterns like mackerel and classic tabbies. I also have a soft spot for polydactyls, those unique and endearing cats with extra toes.

 

The results have been nothing short of extraordinary. Our Maine Coons are not only visually stunning but also exhibit incredible personalities—playful, loving, and gentle. It is my joy to introduce others to these remarkable cats and

to help them find the perfect companion.

 

Unlike many breeders, I welcome visitors to our property, but only for those seriously considering adopting one of our kittens or cats. I believe meeting a kitten in person is essential to finding “the one.” To ensure the safety of both our cats and your pets at home, I require clean clothing, hand sanitizer, and sometimes a light misting of clothes with a gentle Chlorhexidine solution. Kittens must also have completed their first vaccination series before any visits are allowed.

 

When your Thornfield Maine Coon joins your family, rest assured they have been lovingly cared for and medically prepared. Each kitten leaves with:

            • Two FVRCP vaccinations

            • A one-year rabies vaccination

            • A microchip

            • A thorough wellness check from a licensed veterinarian, including examination of their heart, ears, eyes, lungs, joints, and overall health.

 

Unlike some breeders, I never cut corners. Every step is designed to ensure our kittens are healthy, vibrant, and ready to become cherished members of your family.
